Tithe (What, Why, When)

What

The Hebrew word, ma,aser, is translated both as “tenth part” and “tithe”. The greek word, dekate, is translated “tenth”, and “tithe”.

The tithe is “ The 10 th part of one’s increase , profit or income. Bible says in Lev 27 : 30
" A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD.

Why

By paying tithe man acknowledges that he is steward of god, the owner of all things. God does not need man’s financial support, for ‘the world’ is His.
· Honoring God (Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; Pro 3 : 9)
· Belongs to the Lord & it is holy ( Lev 27 : 30)
. Giving thanks to the Lord
· To receive heavenly gifts from God ( Malachi 3 :10)

When

Tithing is an indicator of our faithfulness to Lord. It’s a weekly, semimonthly, or monthly opportunity to demonstrate to God your faithfulness and commitment to His work on earth.

So , be the first to give your tithe to the local church or to support some ministries.
